Three designs for Competition

Thank you for visiting my doll fashion blog featuring the designs I enter into doll fashion competitions. The reason I enter competitions is that without a deadline I wouldn't sew.  Most are sold or in private collections but please email me at daz3@aol.com if anything interests you. Enjoy!
My "Dorothy meets the Wiz" entry for Fletcher Pattern Challenge
This outfit was entered in the Fletcher Pattern/Designs by Jude Over The Rainbow Challenge in February 2011.
Pattern used: "So Charming" for Ellowyne Wilde.
My "Over The Rainbow" outfit was created for a 2011 Dorothy to meet the Wizard of Oz.

Bodice was made in turquoise satin. The skirt is in a matching turquoise glittery stretch poly fabric topped with sheer vintage "felted circles" overskirt and belted in green. The dress is fastened in back, corset style with matching blue grommets and finished with a green bow. The entire dress is lined in an orange poly satin. I covered her shoes in contrasting pink with little orange bows.

The oversized hair bow was created with the same sheer felted fabric and decorated with a cascade of rainbow colored pompoms. I finished her look with a  chain necklace in gradating colors. She's now ready for her color filled trip to Oz! (with Toto too!)

I won People's Choice!

My Vampire Couture entry for Fletcher Pattern Challenge
For the Fletcher Pattern/Designs by Jude Goth Challenge in November 2010.
Pattern used: "Opera"
I combined and lessened the skirt side pattern pieces so that the skirt had no front seams interrupting the lace pattern.

The top corset was made in a floral red on black embroidered silk with net trim. I double-stitched the outer seams for a true "corsetted stay" look. The skirt was made with two fabrics for contrast; stretch black lace over nude stretch poly. The blood red vampire gloves are made with glittery stretch fabric I deconstructed for a gritty feel. The headdress are silk flowers with red netting.

I won People's Choice again! woohoo!

My Coffee Amaretto entry for Atelier's Cocktail Challenge
For the Atelier-des-Reves- sixth scale couture group competition in October 2011, I wanted to create a cocktail dress out of this stretch-smocked fabric that is softly distressed with small sequins and rough edges and though it seemed to be better utilized for a casual boho styled skirt or blouse, I wanted to challenge myself to make an edgier, less dressy version of a cocktail dress out of it. One that Kyori could possibly wear to a cocktail party after work by lowering her sleeves and putting her hair in an updo. The sash belt is a stretch knit, gold sequined, animal print that snaps in back. The dress opens in the front and is made from two pieces of fabric (the left side and the right), including the sleeves.

I won in two categories: Peoples Choice and COUTURE EXCELLENCE ATELIER AWARD!

The Couture Excellence Atelier Award recognizes overall design concept, fashion sophistication, garment innovation, dressmaking and construction refinement, detail, and accessories styling.
