A Re-Imagined Belle from Beauty & The Beast

Working as a package and display designer for LOREAL Cosmetic USA in New York City has taken up most of my free time this year. I wasn't able to attend any doll Conventions last year, but am registered for IFDC this year and hope to have some fashions for sale by July 2012.
My latest muse is the recent Integrity FR2 Vanessa from the WClub's Jetset Convention last Octotber. I wanted to design something fanciful yet elegant for her. I have always loved the classic Disney® heroines and with the fashion trend being golds and yellow as the new Spring neutral I decided to mix the two and see what developed.

Sheer gold embroidered lace was used for the princess shaped bodice.  I used vintage gold colored silk satin for the skirt with a hint of the iconic drape of Belle's Disney dress. The asymmetrical folds meet at a whimsical Victorian cameo depicting a young prince on bended knee before his love. Pale yellow geometric print gloves and Isabelle Leprivey's beaded necklace finish the gown.

I am happy to have been asked to return as Guest Judge for this year's 4th CDDC fashion doll competition. I'll be judging the first challenge:  "Sporty Couture".
Come visit Couture Doll Design Competition and see the wonderful designers compete.
